Two toddlers in a pool

For no other reason than I love these photos and they remind me of childhood innocence.
With news feeds being flooded with tragedies, politics, etc...... I thought today, I would show something a little more fun but just as important.
I'm the first to admit that I tend to get caught up in all the day to day problems. I often forget to be thankful for all our blessings or appreciate the happy moments.
Watching my youngest and niece jump into the pool fully dressed with no worries was an eye opener. So I thought, I would share the pictures in case you could use a reminder to just jump in. To enjoy all of the little things in life no matter what you may be wearing.

Confessional Thursday

I confess.....

This week was hard and I am worried that I didn't handle it all very well.

Homeschool sounds appealing since I'd be able to have the girls home all the time. This may change in a week or two, so stay tuned!

I am so happy that it is finally summer! I can't wait to swim almost everyday, go exploring, and be spontaneous!!!!

We got a gym membership largely for the fore mentioned swimming! Seriously, the gym has three pools and the kid one is a life saver!

I found my childhood stuffie, Kitty, and sleep with her sometimes! She makes all the crazy in life fade away for a little bit!

The big girls left to go on the big family camping trip today with my dad. We will meet up with them Sat. and I'm kind of excited to have a quiet house for a couple of days. We've gone nonstop lately so a relaxing day to get house stuff done sounds like vacation.

Last Day of School

Thursday was the girls' last day of school! I can't believe that we now have a kindergartner and a 2nd Grader! Seriously, how does time move so very fast?
Jozy graduated preschool this year and is a total rock star! Mrs Judy claims Hozy is the sweetest girl and the best helper. Those are so very not surprising, but how quickly she emerged from her shelf was. Before school she was always a little shy but by the end of school she was making friends with anyone and everyone. I'm excited to see what kindergarten holds for her.

She wants to be a unicorn explorer when she grows up!
First grade was a big adjustment for Ladybug, but she came through with flying colors. She developed some great friends, learned a lot about life, taught her class and teacher about animals, developed a love of reading, and started finding herself. I didn't think 1st grade would be so full of emotions, drama, and love triangles. But our girl, weathered the hurricane  with only a few bruises. I'm so thankful for her teacher and all the patient love she gave Ladybug through some rough patches. Here's hoping 2nd grade is more of a spring rain.

Here's to a long summer filled with fun and all three of our girls!!!!!

I celebrated National Donut Day

Unless you are living under a rock or have blacked out all social media, you know that today was National Donut Day! It's basically an awesome holiday that encourages you to eat a donut! And next to National Hamburger Day and Hug a Redhead Day, is my favorite pointless holiday. So yes, I ate a donut!

Before you roll your eyes and click the back button, I do have a point to this blog. I am trying to get healthier and as a by product lose some weight. I am no where near my goal weight but I am feeling a ton healthier. I also have more energy and a better love for my body.

I also have three little girls who look up to me. They will learn to judge or not judge their figure on how I act. Because it's easy to blame the media for girls bad body image; in truth they start learning to hate the scale, or a little extra jiggle from home first. I don't want that for our girls. I also don't want them to have an unhealthy relationship with food, or struggle to be healthy their whole lives.

So in my process to lose weight, I am not dieting! I refuse to diet! I refuse to only eat lettuce or consume a tiny amount of calories for a short while. I am changing my life. I am eating healthier and working out regularly. I am choosing healthy options, but not depriving myself either.

I knew that I wanted a donut today, and that I would be buying some for the girls and their cousins. So I made good choices for breakfast and lunch. As a family we opted for a lighter healthier dinner. We played outside, I went for a walk and did a workout.

Life is about balance. It's not about losing out on what you enjoy. It's not about depriving yourself. It's about jumping in and enjoying all that life has to offer. Why should this change to a healthier happier me, be any different?

Diets don't work, or they rarely stick around. But making the choice to love me, care about me, and show our girls that sometimes you can have your donut and eat it too; is going to last. It is going to stick.

I'm not a health expert or a doctor by any means. But I know that this way of thinking, of living, is working. I'm getting results and I am still enjoying life.

I hope you celebrated too and didn't let a scale dictate your life!
